Max Loehr

他开创性地利用纹样的风格分析将河南安阳青铜器划分为五个时期,并且在其后的考古发掘中得到印证,从而极大地激励了后来的艺术史学者将风格分析引入中国绘画史研究的信心。

生平

出生于开姆尼茨,德国萨克森州 ,生于1903年。 他在1931年进入慕尼黑大学 ,在那里他学习了远东艺术,并在1936年获得博士学位。 然后,他曾在慕尼黑博物馆研究亚洲收藏艺术。 1940年的去北京,在中德学院学习,然后他担任研究所所长助理教授, 清华大学 。 1949年,他回到了他在慕尼黑的两年后,移居美国,成为在美国密歇根大学的教授。 他于1988年去世, Nashua,新罕布什尔州 。
